Study Projects 57% Of US Kids, Teens Will Be Obese By Age 35 Should Current Trends Continue

Research published in The New England Journal of Medicine suggests unhealthy childhood weight leads to obesity in adults. Obese children are at the highest risk, but even young adults in their 20’s can be at risk without healthy eating and an active lifestyle.  “This study is the first to make precise predictions for today’s generation of children,” and the news is not good, said lead author Zachary Ward, a researcher at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The findings, he said, show the need for stepped-up prevention efforts from infancy through young adulthood. The current adult obesity rate stands at a record 39.8%. The rate in children and teens is 18.5%. Obesity in adulthood is related to a higher risk or heart disease, bone disease and diabetes.

Ok kids, eat healthy, exercise, and sleep well for a healthier you!
